Mercy Gonzales has over 43 years of dance experience. She has been dancing and performing since age five and has studied and performed tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, and a wide variety of Latin dances. She performed as part of a high school Mexican Folkloric dance team, was a cheerleader her freshman year at North Dallas High School, was a high school dance team member for three years where she made officer which started her teaching many choreographed routines in 1986.
Mercy has been dancing Salsa since December 1990, teaching Salsa for over 17 years, and has extensive training in Salsa/Latin dance and instruction. She began teaching Salsa lessons in Denver at Sevilla at the Ice House in February 2000 for four years, was a featured dance instructor for workshops offered at the Denver Bacardi Salsa Congress in October 2000, taught Salsa lessons at Blue Ice, was a member of “Salsa Caliente” from September 2000 to June 2002, performed in numerous events to include the Los Angeles Salsa Congress in 2001 and 2002, taught Salsa lessons and Salsa Cardio at Latin Dance FX dance studio for Rafael Ayure and Barbie Novoryta.
She moved to Colorado Springs and choreographed and performed the “Salsa Matrix” routine for the Diabetes Foundation fund raiser in June 2004 at Rumbay’s in Colorado Springs and at the Denver Salsa Bash in July of 2004. Mercy taught Salsa lessons at Synergy dance studio in Colorado Springs, Salsa cardio classes at Forest Gym, Fort Carson, Colorado, and at Gammon Gym at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Mercy moved back to Denver in June 2008 and taught Salsa for over 6 years on Sundays at Que Bueno Mexican Grill in Westminster and for 9 years at the Denver Turnverein as an instructor for Salsa Central Denver. She has studied under many talented instructors such as Edie the Salsa Freak, Rafael Ayure and Barbara Novoryta, performed with Griselle Ponce Immersion Program show @ LA Salsa Congress 2011, in NYC with Maria and Eddie Torres NYC July 2013, and numerous others instructors.
Mercy started up her own Salsa team in February 2011. As Team Director/Choreographer of Hot Salseras Dance CO. She petitioned and was invited to perform in the L.A. Salsa congress May 2011. Her Ladies styling dance team performed at many local events and night clubs to include La Rumba, Pisco Sour, Denver Turnverein, Que Bueno Mexican Grill, and the Buckley Airforce Base Hispanic heritage month 2011. She also
choreographed Las Divas Ladies styling team for the 1st Denver Salsa and Bachata Salsa
Congress October 4-6th 2013 and performed with her Bachata team as well September 2014. She also took her ladies Salsa performance team to perform in the Puerto Rican Salsa Congress in San Juan in July 2014. Mercy has been teaching Latin Dance since 1999 to include Salsa, Bachata, Cha-Cha-Cha, Cumbia, Reggaetón, Merengue, Mexican Folkloric Dance, and Bomba and Plena (Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance).
She is available for private lessons, group classes, salsa performance/competition routines, and dance entertainment.
