Angela has been moving her body one way or another since she could walk. As a child she did gymnastics and ballet, moving on to Mexican folkloric, classical Spanish, and flamenco dance as a teenager. She performed with Fiesta Colorado professional dance company under the direction of Jeanette Trujillo from 1995-2002. She first started learning salsa with Cuban dancer Osvaldo Gómez, and then later with her mentors Rafael Ayure and Barbara Novaryta, founders of the Salsa Caliente dance company. While dancing salsa is her passion, Angela has studied other forms of ethnic dance, including belly dance, Argentine tango, Afro-Brazilian and samba, all of which contribute to her particular salsa style. As an instructor Angela emphasizes technique and body awareness in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. She is very excited for the opportunity to teach for Salsa Central!
