Student Showcase

The next Salsa Student Showcase: January 20, 2010

 7:00pm - 8:00pm   Basic Footwork / Intermediate Salsa Class
8:30pm                    Student Showcase Performances

Cover: $5 members / $10 non-members

Twice a year, Salsa Central Denver puts on a Student Showcase where Salsa students have the opportunity to strut their stuff. Anyone who has been working with an SCD teacher can participate. Student/teacher, student/student, and team performances have provided hours of entertainment for students and spectators alike.

Want to push yourself to become a better dancer by learning choreography and training to perform?

Here’s how to get involved…

  • Find an SCD instructor
  • Express interest in the Student Showcase
  • Start working towards your first (…or second, or third… or tenth) performance!

A few other things to keep in mind:

  • Student must be entered by an SCD instructor.
  • Routine must be choreographed. No social/improvisation
  • Performance attire is required. You do not have to get a professional costume, just dress nice!
  • Routines must be between 1 – 4 minutes in length
  • Routines can be singles, couples, or groups/teams
  • Routines may incorporate Salsa, Cha-Cha, Merengue, and Bachata or a mix of any of these dances
  • Deadline for entry is two weeks prior to the event
  • Entries/instructors may be limited based on overall interest. Shows are limited to 20 entries each
  • All entry forms should be completed in their entirety and submitted to Bridget Ellis prior to the deadline

It is entirely up to the student how much the instructor is involved in the routine. However, sponsorship by an instructor implies some degree of coaching to ensure that the routines comply with these rules (i.e. choreographed, appropriate attire, etc.)
